Job Title: Tastefully Simple Independent Consultant
Type of Company: We are independent consultants for this company. We sell easy-to-prepare gourmet foods. Everything takes two or fewer ingredients to make. We primarily do in-home taste-testings, parties, fund raisers, exposure events, etc.
We also sell through our website.
Education: AS, Finance & Management, Newbury College (Brookline, MA)
Previous Experience: I have worked in all types of corporate jobs but decided after I had my children to stay home. I went to a neighbor's party one night and thought I could do this. That was five years ago and I have never looked back.
Job Tasks: Here is what I do. I do in-home taste-testing parties. I party for a living. I have people on my team. That means that I invite people to join me on this journey. I have been very successful at this. Especially with the economy, people are looking for anything to enhance their lives. I also train my team members. I get all the tools and training material right from our website. This is a company which is booming in this economy. We are in the food business and this is what people need. People will not spend money on things they don't need, especially with the way the economy is now. But everyone has to eat and once they try our products they're hooked. They share them with friends and family and everyone is happy!
Best and Worst Parts of the Job: The best part of my job is that I make my own schedule around my life. The worst part I would say is following up with the clients/customers. I really need to be more disciplined about that part of my job. The follow-up is the key in this type of business. I need to work at that.
Job Tips: My advice for anyone giving this business a try is to go for it. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose. It's food and people need it. The demographics don't matter at all because everyone has to eat to survive. If you want to give it a try I am more than happy to help. You don't know unless you try. You might find this is what you have been waiting for.
