Registered nurses, also called RNs, provide patient care by administering medications, monitoring the health of patients and providing assistance during recovery. They also educate patients and their family members on medical conditions and home care treatments. Registered nurses typically work in hospitals, but can also be found in physicians' offices, home healthcare services or social assistance agencies.

To become an RN, you can either get a bachelor of science degree in nursing (BSN), an associate degree in nursing (ADN) or a diploma from one of the many registered nursing schools in Utah. Registered nurses who earn a master's degree in nursing (MSN) are known as advanced practice nurses. These nurses can perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as well as prescribe medication. Registered nursing programs provide both classroom education as well as hands-on clinical experience. According to data from May 2009, RNs in Utah earned an hourly median wage of $27.92, or $58,070 annually.
