Carefree, Arizona, in Maricopa county, is 21 miles N of Scottsdale, Arizona (center to center) and 27 miles N of Phoenix, Arizona. The town is included in the Phoenix - Mesa metropolitan area. As of the year 2000 census, 2,927 people lived in Carefree.
