Morrilton, Arkansas, in Conway county, is 37 miles NW of North Little Rock, Arkansas (center to center) and 152 miles W of Memphis, Tennessee. The city contains a population of approximately 6,550.

Morrilton History

Morrilton was incorporated on November 24, 1879. The community was named after its landowners, E.J Morrill and George H. Morrill. It is the county seat of Conway county, which was founded on October 20, 1825, and was named in honor of Henry Wharton Conway. The present-day Harding University of Searcy, Arkansas, was located in Morrilton in the 1920s and was known as Harding College.

The Museum of Automobiles and the Depot Museum can be visited while in the city. The local public libraries and the dvarious Baptist, Methodist, and Presbyterian churches are also worth visiting. The city's local parks offer facilities for recreation. In addition to Petit Jean State Park, one can also visit Pinnacle Mountain State Park. The North Hills Shopping Center and the River land Shopping Center are popular amongst tourists. Morrilton also hosts the Conway County Fair, Great Arkansas Pig-out Festival, and Mountain Rendezvous every year.
