Chula Vista is a city in Southern California located in Dan Diego County. It is located on the southeast end of San Diego Bay, 15 minutes south of San Diego and about 15 minutes north of the border with Mexico. Based on 2005 Census estimates, Chula Vista has a population of approximately 213,000 people, substantially up from the 2000 census when the population was nearly 174,000. Chula Vista is the second largest city in San Diego county.

Being so close to San Diego, Chula Vista's economy is inextricably intertwined with that of San Diego. The area's economy has traditionally been dependent on tourism and defense, but has expanded to include: biotechnology, communications, computer and electronics manufacturing, medical equipment manufacturing, pharmaceutical development, and software development and computer services.
