Introduction to Dublin, California
Dublin, California, in Alameda county, is 4 miles NW of Pleasanton, California (center to center) and 19 miles E of Oakland, California. It's a suburban city and is part of the Tri-Valley. The municipality is situated in the east portion of the San Francisco Bay Area. Franklin Resources, Sybase, Pacific Bell- Advanced Solution, Zeiss Humphrey Systems and Arlen Ness are located in Dublin. The Parks Reserve Forces Training Area also known as Camp Parks is an important part of the Western United States' Army. The Tri-Valley area features prominent business parks and is home to major corporations. Dublin is situated on the Calaveras Fault. It has an ethnically diverse population.
Dublin History
In the early days, Dublin was the crossroads for two major stage routes. In 1822 Jose Maria Amador was given a vast acreage for his service as a Mexican soldier. He constructed several adobe homes and numerous small structures where Indians made a variety of products including soap, blankets, and farm tools for his rancho. In 1960 housing tracts were being built which initiated the conversion of Dublin from a rural area to the suburbs. The municipality incorporated in 1982.

Golfers enjoy the nearby quality courses including Dublin Ranch Golf Course, Canyon Lakes Golf Course, Bridges Golf Club and San Ramon Royal Vista Golf. The Tri-Valley area is home to numerous wineries including Clemente Estate Vineyards, Fenestra Winery, Concannon Vineyard and Retzlaff Estate Vineyards. Garin and Dry Creek Pioneer Regional Park, Lake Chabot, Mount Diablo State Park and Sunol Regional Wilderness are popular with outdoor enthusiasts. The Pleasanton Ridge Trail is a long challenging path and rewards hikers with excellent views. San Francisco is approximately an hour away. Families enjoy the Bonfante Gardens Family Theme Park.
