Introduction to Florence-Graham, California
Florence-Graham is a large unincorporated community located in Los Angeles County, California. The community is situated only six miles south of Los Angeles, and is surrounded by the cities of Bell, Maywood, and Huntington Park (to the east) and Vernon (to the north). Florence-Graham is centrally located with respect to several nearby highways, including Interstates I-5, I-10, I-105, I-110, and I-705.
Florence-Graham is typical of a large portion of Los Angeles County, which contains many unincorporated city-like areas along with a total of more than 80 incorporated cities. One of the largest unincorporated communities in the county (as of the 2000 census the second largest), Florence-Graham is heavily urbanized, which is also a typical trait of most of the communities located in the southern portion of the county.

Within the Florence-Graham area are several Los Angeles County attractions. The county's most visited park is Griffith Park, featuring over 4,000 acres of both natural and landscaped terrain. Situated in the eastern Santa Monica Mountain range, the park offers a large assortment of educational and cultural institutions and miles of trails ideal for horseback riding and hiking. Historic Mount Wilson Observatory, located in the San Gabriel Mountains, is an astronomical research facility situated on the summit of Mount Wilson at an altitude of 5715 feet. The site houses a small astronomical museum and offers picnic tables whose sight lines afford a commanding view of the Los Angeles basin. Outdoor recreation can be found at Castaic Lake Recreation Area, where residents and visitors can partake in swimming, water skiing and other activities. Florence-Graham is also only minutes away from a large variety of professional sports played by major league teams representing the city of Los Angeles.
