Greenfield, California, located in Monterey County, is 33 miles SE of Salinas, California (center to center) and 79 miles SE of San Jose, California. The people of the city are in the Salinas metropolitan area. 

Greenfield History

Greenfield came into being in 1905 when the Clark Colony Water Company constructed a network of canals for irrigation in the area. The area was named after Edward Greenfield, one of the planners of the canal system.
