Grover Beach, California, in San Luis Obispo County, is 15 miles NW of Santa Maria, California (center to center) and 122 miles SW of Fresno, California. The city is considered part of the San Luis Obispo - Atascadero - Paso Robles metropolitan area. Grover Beach has a population of 13,067.
Grover Beach History
Grover Beach was founded in 1887 by Dwight William Grover who planned to construct a hotel and railway station nearby. It was later incorporated in 1959. The name was changed from ‘City of Grover’, to ‘Grover Beach’ in 1992. Amtrak began its railway service through the city in 1996.
