Hermosa Beach, California, in Los Angeles County, is 1 miles NW of Redondo Beach, California (center to center) and 13 miles NW of Long Beach, California. Part of the surrounding Los Angeles - Long Beach metro area, the city is not an isolated city. Hermosa Beach is home to some 18,566 residents.

Hermosa Beach History

The city of Hermosa Beach was a part of the 1784 Spanish land grant of Rancho San Pedro. The land was bought from A. E. Pomroy in 1900. At that time Pomroy owned the greater part of Rancho Sausal Redondo. On December 24, 1906, the first city election was held. The city was incorporated soon after on January 14, 1907.
