Ione, California is 24 miles NE of Lodi, California and 34 miles SE of Sacramento, California. It is in Amador County. The population of the city is 7,129.

Ione History

Ione adopted its current name sometime around 1849. In 1853, Ione’s first school was built, while its first post office was built in 1852 and its first flour mill was built in 1855. Ione was incorporated in 1953.
