Ontario Introduction
Ontario, California, is located in Southern California in San Bernardino County. It is 40 minutes east of Los Angeles, and 30 minutes southwest of San Bernardino. Ontario is in a part of Southern California known as the Inland Empire.
Ontario is a city of approximately 157,000 people according to 2005 Census estimates. That population is essentially unchanged from the 2000 census.

The City of Ontario is served by three school districts - the Chaffey Joint Union High School District, the Mountain View School District, and the Ontario-Montclair School District. Since 2000, four of these District's schools have been recognized with Distinguished School Awards from the California School Recognition Program.
Colleges and universities located in Ontario include: Chaffey College Ontario Campus, a satellite campus of Chapman University, Providence Christian College, and the University of La Verne College of Law.

The two pillars of the Ontario economy are service industries and warehousing. Major employers in Ontario include: United Parcel Service, Mag Instrument, Verizon, Burns International Security Services, Marriott International Hotel, Toyota North America, Hewlett – Packard, Skechers USA, Superior Building Products, and US Merchants Financial Group.
According to 2005 United States Census estimates, median family income in Ontario, California was at $49,979, which was below the national average at that time.
