Introduction to Piedmont, California
Piedmont, California, in Alameda county, is 2 miles NE of Oakland, California. The city is located in the Oakland metropolitan area.
Piedmont History
The present day Piedmont was part of Rancho San Antonio during 1850s. This area was owned by the Peralta family. However, the land gradually passed out of the hands of the Peraltas and a small portion of Jose Domingo's patrimony and Vincente's land is now known as the City of Piedmont. The city was incorporated in 1907 and Varney Gaskill was the first mayor. Hugh Craig became the second mayor in May, 1907 and is considered the father of Piedmont.

The City of Piedmont offers a number of recreational activities. There are five city parks along with several other landscaped areas. The city also features beautiful wooded paths. The other facilities in Piedmont include tennis courts, shopping centers, picnic areas and children’s playgrounds.
