The U.S. Navy arrived in Port Hueneme during World War II. They came to take command of the only deep water port between San Francisco and Los Angeles. The servicemen stayed during the Korean War maintaining a steadfast relationship with the community. The town has the strength of endurance, being three decades older than Oxnard and having a revolutionary legacy of fishermen, farmers, merchants and families.
