Windsor, California, in Sonoma County, is 9 miles NW of Santa Rosa, California (center to center) and 57 miles N of San Francisco, California. The town is conveniently located inside the Santa Rosa metropolitan area and has an estimated 22,744 people.

Windsor History

Although Windsor was only incorporated in 1992, the proposal to make to so came during the 1800s. The town began as an agricultural center in this area of rolling hills and plains. Hiram Lewis, one of the town settlers, came from England and this topography reminded him greatly of his own English countryside around Windsor Castle. The town thus came to be known as Windsor. Windsor was incorporated on July 1, 1992.

Things To Do In Windsor

Windsor is full of open spaces, playgrounds and parks which are excellent places for both adults and kids to spend their leisure time. The parks also include picnic areas, softball fields, soccer fields, basketball courts, tennis courts and play areas. Many good restaurants and cafes can be found in the city.
