Stafford, Connecticut, in Tolland county, is 17 miles SE of Springfield, Massachusetts and 68 miles W of Boston, Massachusetts. The town is located in the Hartford metropolitan area.

Stafford History

Stafford was originally a rural agricultural community. Later on, industries flourished in this area due to the easy availability of water power. The first railroad entered the town in the mid-1800s and enabled Stafford to connect with the rest of New England. The town also had a trolley connection to Rockville, Connecticut. A number of factories in Stafford manufactured cannonballs and other war supplies during the Civil War.

Things To Do In Stafford

While staying in Stafford, you can plan a family day trip to the Bigelow Hollow State Park. You can also spend your leisure hours at the Sandy Beach on Crystal Lake.
