Tamiami is an unincorporated community located in Miami-Dade County in the state of Florida. Situated about 15 miles west of the city of Miami, Tamiami derived its name from the Tamiami Trail, a roadway connecting the cities of Tampa and Miami (The name "Tamiami" being a combination of "Tampa" and "Miami"). The Florida Turnpike traverses the community, which is also accessible to Florida State Highways 826, 836, 878, and 986.
