Introduction to Peachtree City, Georgia
Peachtree City, Georgia is 27 miles SW of Atlanta, Georgia. It is in Fayette county. The city is part of the Atlanta metro area. The population of Peachtree City is 31,580.
Peachtree City History
The area on which Peachtree City stands today was originally occupied by the Woodland Era Indians. During the 1950s, real estate developers bought 12,000 acres of land in Fayette County in order to develop a planned community. Lake Peachtree was created in 1957 when a dam was built on Lake Flat Creek. The City of Peachtree was chartered in March of 1959 and the first police and fire departments were built in 1965.

The city has vast spaces of pristine parklands and gardens. It also offers facilities for a variety of sporting activities, and those interested in racing should visit the Atlanta Motor Speedway. One can also go biking and hiking at the Callaway Gardens Resort & Preserve.
