Makakilo City History
Makakilo City derived its name from Hawaiian term “maka kilo” meaning observing eyes. It is located in the Honolulu County, which was originally discovered by the ancient king, Kamehameha in 1804. Originally Honolulu was called Fair Haven and later called Brown’s Harbor. In 1907, it came to be recognized and incorporated as City and County of Honolulu.
