Country Club Hills, Illinois, in Cook county, is 8 miles SE of Orland Park, Illinois and 20 miles S of Chicago, Illinois. The city is included in the Chicago metropolitan area. As of the year 2000 census, 16,169 people lived in Country Club Hills.
Country Club Hills History
This region was originally called Cooper’s Grove and was settled in by German farmers. Its transformation into Country Club Hills was the result of the vision of local developer J. E. Merrion. In 1955, Merrion developed this area with the intention of building affordable and spacious homes with country-like atmosphere for middle income people. Country Club Hills was officially incorporated as a city and had its first election in 1958.
