Hampshire, Illinois, in Kane county, is 13 miles W of Elgin, Illinois (center to center) and 48 miles W of Chicago, Illinois. The village is included in the Chicago metropolitan area. As of the year 2000 census, 2,900 people lived in Hampshire.
