Loves Park, Illinois, in Winnebago county, is 3 miles NE of Rockford, Illinois (center to center) and 76 miles SW of Milwaukee,Wisconsin.The city is part of the Rockford metropolitan statistical area (MSA). About 20,044 people live in Loves Park.
Loves Park History
Loves Park was named after Malcolm Love who was an industrialist in the adjacent city of Rockford. Mr. Love purchased 236 acres of land three miles North of Rockford, alongside the Rock River. He used this property to hold social events where he invited his industrialist friends. The area became known as Love’s Park and saw commercial, as well as residential, development in the following years.

The Rockford Park District manages the vast areas of parkland. People can participate in a wide range of activities in any of the several parks. The park district also has an ice skating rink and a walking trail running alongside Rock River. The Harlem Community Center regularly organizes recreational programs and various sporting events.
