Streamwood, Illinois is 4 miles W of Schaumburg, Illinois (center to center) and 29 miles W of Chicago, Illinois. It is in Cook County. The village is part of the Chicago metro area. The population of Streamwood is 36,407.
Streamwood History
Streamwood is part of the "Tri Village" area and became a growing community during the 1950s. On February 9, 1957, Streamwood was incorporated as a village. The Woodland Heights School was established in 1958. The Streamwood Shopping Center was built in 1962, and the Westview Shopping Center, two-thirds of which lie in Streamwood, was opened in 1989.

There are several recreational centers and parks in Streamwood. Park Place includes an indoor waterpark, running track, fitness center, and many other facilities. Sunnyhill Park offers a skatepark, two playgrounds, a frisbee course, an interactive water/splash pad, three gazebos, and tennis courts. You can also visit the Streamwood Heritage Museum during your leisure hours. Shopping can be enjoyed at the Streamwood Shopping Center.
