The North End of the City near Lake Michigan is in transition. It's great time to buy. The prices are just starting to rise after yeras of hard work to get a "trend" going. Two years from now you won't be able to "find" a bargain.
There is a new Council "mix" coming in November and hopefully the Mayor will have a Council that he can work with and they can tap some of the potential that is ripe.
The shopping is great between the Discount Mall, the Lighthouse Place and the major "box" stores and now there is a new Wal-Mart Super Store being built. It's the greatest.
Make sure that you read both the Beacher and the New Dispatch. The Beacher focuses on all the cultural events for the area and the New Dispatch focuses on the crime (news?)
Be a F.I.P. Friendly Illinois Person that buys and fixes up one of the old Mansions in the Historical District, Elston Grove.
There are organizations of those that are working on homes here and we all trade secrets and supplies. It's been a wonderful experience.
