Introduction to Schererville, Indiana
This area was known as Crossroad's long before Schererville was established, and even before Indiana became a state. The name described the region aptly as many Indian trails intersected here. These trails became the routes of early settlers. One of these early settlers was Nicholas Scherer, who came to the U.S. from Germany in 1846. He arrived in this area in 1866 and established Schererville.
