Paola, Kansas, in Miami county, is located 21 miles S of Olathe, Kansas (center to center) and is 39 miles SW of Kansas City, Missouri. The city is located in the Kansas City metropolitan area, and has a population of 5,011.

Paola History

The city of Paola is the county seat of Miami County. Indians were the first inhabitants of Paola, who established communities throughout the area. It was in the year 1827, the displaced Indian tribes settled in the Paola area and named the place as Peoria Village. The Indians were followed by the Spanish explorer, Francisco Vasquez de Coronado in 1541. French Jesuit missionary explorers, Marquette and Joliet visited the area in 1673.
