Roeland Park is located in Johnson County, which was named after Rev. Thomas Johnson. It was among the first counties that were founded in 1855 in the Kansas Territory. The development of new upper class and upper middle class homes in the city has earned Roeland Park the name of "the Orange County of the Midwest".
