Florence, Kentucky, in Boone county, is 14 miles SW of Cincinnati, Ohio. The city is in the Cincinnati area. There are 23,551 residents in Florence.

Florence History

The city of Florence is in Boone County, Kentucky. The community was named after the wife of an early settler called Jacob Conner. The city was originally known as Crossroads, because of the convergence of several roads from Burlington and Union at Ridge Road. By the year 1821, the city came to be known as Madden town, named after Thomas Madden. Mr. Madden was a Covington attorney who owned a farm on the Burlington Pike. The area was renamed Connersville in 1828, as Madden moved away from the city. Finally the city settled on the name Florence and was incorporated in the year 1830.
