Jeffersontown History

The first settlers came to Jeffersontown by the late 1790s. Abraham Bruner was the first to visualize the area as a town in 1794. It was then known as Brunerstown. The Jefferson County Court established the town of Jefferson in 1797. Later on, the name of the city was changed to Jeffersontown. The city was named in honor of Thomas Jefferson.
