Mount Sterling History
The city of Mount Sterling is the county seat of Montgomery County. The city is located in the Bluegrass region. It was settled in the year 1792 by Hugh Forbes, a Scotsman. He was known to hold a land grant near an ancient tribal burial site known as the “Little Mountain.” In order to pick a name for the developing settlement, Forbes combined the name of the mound with Sterling. The city was known for its business potential and witnessed several developments in business, education, and infrastructure.

Tourists can visit the Daniel Boone National Forest that is spread across a vast region. The Kentucky State Horse Farm Park is also a nice place to visit. It is a working horse farm and an educational theme park. People can also visit the Cane Ridge Meeting House. Tourists can also be a part of the local festivals such as the Gateway Music and Arts Festival, which is held every year in the month of September.
