Oak Grove History
The city of Oak Grove was founded in the year 1828. The city derived its name from a grove of oak trees which stood near the first post office of the city. Oak Grove was turned into a railroad town in 1884, by the Buckberry Special that ran from Clarksville, Tennessee to Princeton, Kentucky. In July 1941, Oak Grove was named as a defense establishment by the War Department. It was incorporated as a city in the year 1974.
