Oak Grove, Kentucky, in Christian county, is 10 miles NW of Clarksville, Tennessee (center to center) and 50 miles NW of Nashville, Tennessee. The city is part of the Clarksville - Hopkinsville metropolitan statistical area (MSA). About 7,064 people live in Oak Grove.

Oak Grove History

The city of Oak Grove was founded in the year 1828. The city derived its name from a grove of oak trees which stood near the first post office of the city. Oak Grove was turned into a railroad town in 1884, by the Buckberry Special that ran from Clarksville, Tennessee to Princeton, Kentucky. In July 1941, Oak Grove was named as a defense establishment by the War Department. It was incorporated as a city in the year 1974.
