Crowley History

C.C. Duson and W.W. Duson were the founders of Crowley. The city was incorporated in the year 1887. The land was platted and developed by W.W. Duson who was an official of Southwest Louisiana Land Company. The city’s first National Bank was opened by Maime Duson. In the 20th century several oil discoveries were made in Acadia Parish. This led to companies looking for business come to Crowley. The city was named after Pat Crowley, who was an Irish railroad man and helped to establish the railroad depot in this area.
