Gretna, Louisiana, in Jefferson county, is 3 miles SE of New Orleans, Louisiana. Part of the surrounding New Orleans metro area, the city is not an isolated city. Gretna is home to some 17,423 residents.

Gretna History

Originally it was settled in 1836. Gretna was formerly known as Mechanicsham. It was incorporated in 1913. The city is known for the foundation of the popular spice - maker called Zatarain’s in 1889.
