Mansfield, Louisiana, in De Soto county, is 33 miles S of Bossier City, Louisiana (center to center) and 185 miles NE of Houston, Texas. As of the year 2000 census, 5,582 people lived in Mansfield.

Mansfield History

The city of Mansfield is the parish seat in De Soto Parish. It is located in the Shreveport - Bossier City metro area. The city has been witness to the Battle of Mansfield that took place in the year 1864. Even though the city faced difficulties in development, it recovered from its past injuries in the middle of the 19th century. Higher Education became prominent henceforth as several women’s colleges were built in the area.
