Springhill, Louisiana, in Webster county, is 37 miles NE of Shreveport, Louisiana and 194 miles E of Dallas, Texas. The city is located in the Shreveport-Bossier City metropolitan area. Springhill has a population of 5,439.

Springhill History

The city of Springhill is in Webster Parish. Initially a town, this city was established in the year 1896. William Farmer, Samuel Monzingo, J. A. Byrnes and Joseph Murrell were among the first settlers in the area. In the year 1894, Springhill was known as Barefoot, Louisiana. Mrs. Maxwell assigned the name on the basis of her observations that many men in the community left for work without shoes. The city of Springhill was finally incorporated in the year 1902.
