New Albany, Mississippi, in Union county, is located 74 miles SE of Memphis, Tennessee. The city has a population of approximately 7,607.
New Albany History
Initially, the New Albany city was a river-port located beside the historic Tallahatchie River. The city was established in 1840. The vibrant early settlers contributed to the development of the city in the late 1880s. A railroad through Albany was built during this period of time. The city is the birthplace of the famous author, William Faulkner.
