Southaven, Mississippi, in De Soto county, is located 14 miles S of Memphis, Tennessee. The city is conveniently located inside the Memphis metropolitan area and there are an estimated 28,977 people in Southaven.

Southaven History

Southaven was officially incorporated in 1978. It is located in DeSoto County, which was established on February 9, 1836. The area was originally inhabited by the Mississippian Indians. It is the childhood home of well – known novelist John Grisham, and singer and songwriter Cory Branan. The city is so named because of its location south of Whitehaven.

Shopping can be enjoyed at the Carriage Hills Plaza Shopping Center. Visitors can also plan a trip to Graceland. Each year, the city hosts several festivals including the Fall Festival and the Springfest.
