Blue Springs, Missouri, in Jackson county, is located 8 miles SE of Independence, Missouri (center to center) and is 16 miles E of Kansas City, Missouri. Part of the surrounding Kansas City metro area; the city is not an isolated city. Blue Springs is home to approximately 48,080 residents.

Blue Springs History

The city of Blue Springs was so named because of the abundance of cool and clean water in the area. The city was incorporated in the year 1880. Franklin Smith was the first representative of the early settlers who came to this region in 1838. He was the one to establish the first post office in Blue Springs in the year 1845. The early settlement shifted base to the center of the city around the year 1878.
