Brentwood History
Brentwood was originally settled in by Louis J. Bompart in 1804. The residents planned the incorporation of Brentwood to avoid annexation by the nearby City of Maplewood. Fossils of hairy elephant-like creatures called Mastodons that were extinct around 9000 B.C., have been found in the St. Louis county region.
