Des Peres, Missouri, in St. Louis county, is located 8 miles W of St. Louis, Missouri. The city benefits from easy access to the nearby cities and towns with which it shares the Saint Louis metropolitan area. Des Peres contains a population of approximately 8,592.
Des Peres History
Des Peres City derived its name from a French word which means ‘Fathers’. The city was named after the river Des Peres, which ran through the town. The Native Americans were the first settlers of this area. Some of the tribes who inhabited here were the Michigamea, Moingwena, Tamaora and the Kaskaskia. It was in the 1800s, the Europeans settled in this area. By the year 1850, the city’s population increased to 75,000 people. The present day St. Paul's Lutheran of Des Peres Church was established in 1834.
