Trinity Lutheran Church and school are the center of this small German village. Favorite past times are school and church activities and going to the Farmer's Exchange for a pop. People young and old sit on a bench in front of the Exchange and watch the cars go by. There is also a post office, German restaurant called Biermann's, and the John Deere Tractor dealership. Raising children in this community is like taking our children back to simpler and more innocent time. Once a year the Freistatt Lion's Club hosts the Ernte Fest Harvest celebration which draws thousands of people from across the country. The German Food and Beer Garden are the main draws. The money goes to support several of the Lion's Club charities.
