I am 28 yrs old, my husband and I have 2 children. We live in Farnam and absolutly love it.
The school system is amazing, the town is very, VERY kid friendly with activies for all age youth throughout the year.
We are only 20 miles away from a large town with anything you would like, movie theater, parks, grocery store, flower shops, etc, etc. Only 25 miles away from a beautiful lake.
Homes in Farnam are remarkably priced. Homes range from $10,000 to $100,000, with square foot ranging from 1200 to 3000 plus. The average home sells for $55,000 with an average of 2000 sq ft.
This town has a cafe/bar, gas station, vet clinic, handy man,(that can do any kind of remodeling to winterizing your home), hair salon, library, bank, tennis courts, park, stain glass artistian - I can go on and on.
If you want large city entertainment, we are only an hour away from those!! But with the peace of mind you get with living in a very welcoming, peaceful cottage community.
For example, with the ice storm that went through the town in Dec. 2006, the WHOLE town came together as a community and helped EVERYONE with branch/tree removal to our local tree dump on April 1, 2007. The next week some patrons of the community rented a wood chipper to chip the wood and give it to the community for landscaping their yards.
If you are sick and tired of the hussle and bussle of a large community with no sense of value other than what they can do to help themselves, consider Farnam, Nebraska as your next home!! So many young families are finally realizing that a home is not only the building you live in but also the community you can entrust your dreams to. Anywhere from starting your own business to letting your kids play without worrying. With the Ethanol Plants being built, 5 within a 100 mile radius of Farnam, I honestly believe that we have the best small town community values in the area!! I love Farnam and will always strive to make it the best it can be!!
