Somersworth, New Hampshire, in Strafford county, is 35 miles NE of Manchester, New Hampshire and 63 miles N of Boston, Massachusetts. The city contains a population of approximately 11,477.

Somersworth History

The town was originally known as Sligo, named after a town in Ireland. In 1729, the town was organized as the parish of Summersworth. The town was officially incorporated as Great Falls in 1754. In 1893, the town was reincorporated as a city and received its present name because of a clerical error.
