Introduction to Chesterfield, New Jersey
Originally formed in 1688, Chesterfield was reformed by a Royal Charter in 1713. An Act of the New Jersey Legislature incorporated the town on Februaury 21, 1798. Chesterfield encompasses three distinct communities, Crosswicks, Chesterfield and Sykesville. Quakers settled in Crosswicks in 1677.
