Lacey, New Jersey, in Ocean county, is 7 miles SW of Toms River, New Jersey and 46 miles E of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The town is located in the Monmouth - Ocean metropolitan area. Lacey has a population of 25,346.

Lacey History

This township was named in honor of Continental Army general John Lacey. It was officially incorporated in March of 1871. General Lacy and his son Thomas contributed significantly in the development of this town, beginning with the development of the Ferrago Forge in Cedar creek. The General also built a road connecting Ferrago forge and Dover Forge.

The skate park of Lacey provides facilities for inline skating and skateboarding. There are a number of beaches and parks which have been designed for a variety of activities. One can play soccer, softball, basketball and tennis in the athletic fields and courts and swim in the beaches.
