Readington, New Jersey, in Hunterdon county, is 17 miles W of Edison, New Jersey and 31 miles W of Newark, New Jersey. Part of the surrounding Middlesex - Somerset - Hunterdon metro area, Readington is home to some 15,803 residents.

Readington History

Readington was created by the Royal Charter of King George II, and officially incorporated on February 21, 1798. The Dutch were among the earliest settlers in the region. The town was named after Governor John Reading. Currently, this town ranks among the highest-income places in the United States, and has a population of at least 10,000.

The Readington Township Museum offers one the opportunity to learn about the history of this town. The Northlandz has some amazingly creative and imaginative exhibits on model trains. At the hot air ballooning company, Hunterdon Ballooning Inc., visitors can take picturesque and leisurely balloon flights over the region.
