Voorhees, New Jersey, in Camden county, is 7 miles SE of Cherry Hill, New Jersey and 13 miles SE of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The town benefits from easy access to the nearby cities and towns with which it shares the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Voorhees contains a population of approximately 28,126.

Voorhees History

Voorhees was originally inhabited by the Lenni-Lenape Native Americans. It was incorporated on March 1, 1899 as a township. Prior to its incorporation, the area was a part of Waterford Township. It was named after Foster MacGowan Voorhees, who was the Governor of New Jersey and authorized the formation of Voorhees. Before 1924, Voorhees Township also included parts of present day Gibbsboro.
