Watchung, New Jersey is 8 miles N of Edison, New Jersey and 16 miles SW of Newark, New Jersey. It is in Somerset County. The population of the town is 5,613.
Watchung History
Watchung was incorporated on March 23, 1926. Watchung was a semi-rural community with a very small population up until the beginning of the 20th century. The Plainfield riots of 1967 caused a large number of people to move from the city into the Watchung Hill area.
