Los Lunas, New Mexico, in Valencia county, is 19 miles S of Albuquerque, New Mexico. The village benefits from easy access to the nearby cities and towns that it shares the Albuquerque metropolitan area with. Los Lunas’ population is approximately 10,034.
Los Lunas History
The bvillage was named after the Luna family, who were the original settlers in this area. Originally granted to Don Felix Candelaria in 1716, the Luna family gained possession of the land in 1718. It became the county seat of Valencia County in 1876 and was officially incorporated as a village in 1928.

Los Lunas offers a wide variety of opportunities for recreation, including the Luna Airspace Museum and the Albuquerque Biological Park. Heritage Park and Los Cerritos Park offer several scenic open spaces and camping sites. The village is also home to the Luna Otero Mansion, which dates back to 1881 and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
