Highland Mills, New York, in Orange county, is 28 miles NW of White Plains, New York (center to center) and 42 miles N of Newark, New Jersey. The town is included in the Newburgh metropolitan area. As of the year 2000 census, 3,468 people lived in Highland Mills.
